Through The Trapdoor

I just finished watching Super 8, a J.J. Abrams movie about a group of kids filming their own movie who suddenly find themselves in the middle of an alien attack. As usual, after seeing a movie, I look up everything about it on the net, clicking on various links on the site, finally leading me to other topics. This time, it led me to P.T. Anderson.

So I just read on Wikipedia that Paul Thomas Anderson, director of Magnolia, is actually a self-taught filmmaker. He didn’t learn how to make films in film school but he learnt it by watching heaps and heaps of movies. I find that quite inspiring for someone who’s not in film school like me. It proves that it’s actually possible to be an awesome director even though you didn’t formally learn the craft. Eep! Makes me want to be a filmmaker, too!
